Meta Has Announced Various Updates for Its 'Messenger' App

Meta has announced various updates to the encrypted messenger section of 'Messenger,' the communications app previously known as 'Facebook Messenger.' Messenger has two options for communicating with peers. The first is an unencrypted regular messenger-style app where individuals can send images, gifs, videos, and even save or screenshot content, and the second is an encrypted messenger with disappearing messages and few features.
Now, the encrypted section of Messenger will also feature the ability to send pictures, videos, stickers, and gifs. On top of this, users will be able to edit their pictures before sending them, and will be able to download images sent to them over this encrypted messenger. Meta has also announced that this encrypted messenger will not yet replace the standard messenger, but this is a possibility in future years.
