After the website passed $100 million in revenue last year, news media site BuzzFeed offered a pretty sizable employee perk to its workers. In a company-wide memo, CEO Jonah Peretti announced its more than 700 employees would be honored with a $245,000 reward.
As an added incentive, BuzzFeed offered every worker an Apple Watch if their website reached a goal of 200 million unique visitors plus 750 million video views in the same month. Business Insider estimated if BuzzFeed goes with the least expensive Apple Watch model for all 700+ people, the employee perk would cost at least $245,000.
While this might seem like a tall order, the memo indicated that they were within "striking distance" of the two measurable milestones.
