For those who find belt buckles to be annoying, you are gonna love this! Created by the designer Icelandic Sruli Recht, "Elt" is the first leather belt without a buckle. Its offered in different sizes and is available at BBlessing in New York City and at BelleVille in Reykjavik.
"Elt is an exploration in removing the function from the function. When the clasp or buckle is removed from the belt itself, it loses its place, and becomes a strip of hard skin, not even long enough to knot. In this result the skin is incised to give the same ability as clasped and fingers interlocked. In designing belts came the challenge that there must be a way to do away with the buckle, and create a strong tie symmetric flat, without any additions. Looking at the woven fingers of my locked hand pent in thought, the idea was found. Looking at the woven fingers of my hand pent locked in thought, the idea was found. " SRULI RECHT
To be honest with you, I am not very fond of its style. It looks kinda nerdy, so I hope they work on that next.
