US architectural studio Olson Kundig designs an elegant summer holiday home in Sweden. Located on a rocky waterside site, the firm was careful about creating harmony between the natural surroundings and the man-made structure. This focus is imbued in the use of hues, materials, and shapes. The dark timber and stone, for instance, provide visual sophistication to the house while also seamlessly integrating themselves into the landscape.
The elegant summer holiday home, designed by Olson Kundig, is named the Dalarö House. The design approach draws inspiration from local vernacular homes, as well. The silhouette of the structure is blocky yet interconnected. The concrete base with elongated steps extending into the rocky outcrop adds a sense of connectivity to the waterfront.
