Local design studio Erling Berg creates the tranquil I/O Cabin, which is a holiday home that overlooks the calm ocean in Risør by the southern coast of Norway. The wooden home raises from the ground with the base of wooden pillars and rests on a sloped base foundation. The home is comprised of three volumes connected by a wooden deck and the purpose of this is to create a home that blends indoor and outdoor living experiences.
Founder of the studio, Erling Berg speaks to Dezeen about the design, stating "As a summer house on the coast of Norway, the weather will change fast, often changing during the day, creating both inside and outside hours. Therefore, we wanted to create a house with easy access to its insides and outsides, with a good circular and visual connection between the two elements."
