UPS is working with Innovate UK as part of the Low Impact City Logistics program to bring electric bike trailers to the streets of London, England. The more eco-friendly urban delivery system will be part of a trial in an effort to reduce both carbon emissions and congested traffic. If deemed successful, the fleet of e-bike delivery vehicles could have a significant impact in other busy British cities.
The 'depot-to-door' system will be introduced in Camden first -- an area known for its large amount of traffic. The idea is to keep polluting vehicles off the roads during peak times.
