The e-volo Volocopter is the Consumer Version of the Multicopter
Meghan Young — June 14, 2012 — Autos
The e-volo Volocopter may seem very strange right now with its whopping 18 rotors, but it could very well be a common commuter option in the very near future. Although it is a consumer version of the original e-volo Multicopter, it will not make the pilot operate it from outside as though he or she has decided to hop onto a helicopter model for fun. Instead, the e-volo Volocopter will come in three versions: a single-seater and a larger two-seater version that is enclosed as well as an unmanned copter.
The use of so many rotors allows the e-volo Volocopter to function properly even if it loses up to four of them. In case more of them are lost, the personal helicopter boasts a built-in parachute system.
