Norwegian design studios Vatn Architecture and Groma work together to create an extension in a home dubbed the Dråpa. It is located in Oslo and is defined by its curved form with a large terrace that provides a captivating view of the city and its archipelago. The extension is made for a painter and filmmaker with influences drawn from the 1930s architecture of the suburban area.
The founder of Vatn Architecture, Espen Vtan shares with Dezeen, "The existing house is a well-preserved example of the period, but zoning rules often lead to pitch roofs or boxy extensions that stand out as foreign objects. We therefore consider the curved shape of the extension as in line with the house's character, and possibly in line with how an extension would have been made at the time the house was built."
