Compiling every known lethal American drone attack, a 'Drone War' map from Bloomberg charts out deaths from automated attacks. With thousands of people killed remotely by the robots, Bloomberg's map is the first to comprehensively bring together every known legal attack. This map is the first because of the high level of secrecy around the drone programs. Bloomberg obtained data from a nonprofit organization called the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.
Carried out by the Central Intelligence Agency and the Department of Defense, known drone attacks have killed 3,136 people. Among those killed, 17.7 percent of them were civilians.
Bloomberg's map focuses on Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia. The number of attacks in Pakistan are so numerous that Bloomberg saw fit to produce a more detailed map that zooms in on Pakistan.
