Land Rover is Conducting All-Terrain Self-Driving Research
Laura McQuarrie — July 22, 2016 — Autos
Jaguar Land Rover is now launching a large-scale Autonomous All-Terrain Driving research project that aims to take self-driving cars off the road and make them suitable for tackling any kind of environment.
Some of the systems that will be tested include one that prevents low-speed rear end collisions, notifies of approaching emergency vehicles and detects road construction and suggests detour routes. One of the most impressive features that will be tested during this autonomous driving research project includes one that will allow cars to "talk" to one another as a way to warn other drivers about upcoming obstacles and road conditions.
While there's now a large focus on getting autonomous cars road-ready, Land Rover is one of few companies that's looking to take self-driving cars off-road.
