The automakers 'Jaguar' and 'Land Rover' have each announced a new What3Words partnership. What3Words is a safety-focused geolocator application that allows for devices, such as cell phones or smart cars, to be tracked even in the absence of an internet connection. The application achieves this by having a unique always-on functionality that continues to transmit the location data even after connections are lost.
The What3Words application determines the location of a signal based on three words. Each three-square-meter block of the earth has been assigned a three-word coordinate, rather than longitude and latitude. This makes it much easier to determine the exact location of an individual report, such as a lost vehicle, as the company can simply cross-reference its geolocation software to pinpoint the target.
What3Words is excellent for Jaguar and Land Rover cars for customers who like to explore, travel long distances, or go off-roading where it may be difficult to find help if needed.
