This Drake Sotheby's Collaboration Sets Art to Music

More details have emerged following the announcement of the unusual Drake Sotheby's collaboration, which has the famed hip-hop artist curating a soundtrack for an upcoming auction showcasing the works of contemporary American black artists.
As the Canadian rapper continues to extend his influential hands (and wallet) into a diverse array of businesses as of late, from basketball to music streaming services, the series, aptly entitled 'I Like It Like This' is proving to be yet another successful venture. The 20-piece collection, which debuts June 12th, will be on display in New York City for the next several months, but is also available for preview via the video above, and online at the Sotheby's site.
A deep cultural motive lies behind the concept of the Drake Sotheby's union, where the rap mogul hopes to "draw a bridge between the prestigious and sometimes exclusionary world of art with the youth-driven culture behind modern-day music," according to Hypebeast. The exhibit features iPads pre-loaded with music selected by Drake himself, which patrons can listen to using Beats headphones, that complement pieces by contemporary African-American artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kara Walker.
