Chicago-based design firm Studio Becker Xu has created a separated Dogtrot House to form a set of pavilion-like blocks made from concrete materials. This is topped off with a pine gable which comes together to create a house -- it is located in North Carolina and rests on a 10-acre site in a densely wooden area full of a variety of trees overlooking a pond.
The team at the studio notes, "This format reflects a connection with the outdoors, which, in the past, was synonymous with life in the region. The clients' desire to be surrounded by both family and nature in their home called for a new adaptation of this once-ubiquitous typology, expanding and reframing the idea of outdoor living."
