Moncler Raps DingYun Zhang on the Latest Genius Project
Premium outerwear label Moncler taps the talents of fashion designer DingYun Zhang to contribute his work to the ongoing Genius project. Zhang is a graduate of the Central Saint Martins' MA program and grabbed the attention of Moncler with his notable approach to using functional fabrics, layering garments, and creating volume. His Underwater Futurism collection includes sculptural shapes in the form of outerwear.
The color palette includes a blend of brown, black, and aqua blue that makes up cropped hooded coats and vests along with ultra-light crinkled nylon materials. Some of the details include hidden zippers, thumb-holes at the ribbed cuffs, Chinese-style knitted buttons for adjustment, and much more. Zhang speaks about the capsule, "I am all for big volumes that sculpt the body into new forms.”
