Google Wallet has announced support for a digital US passport to provide travelers with the ability to quickly go through security this holiday season when traveling to see family and friends alike. The digital wallet update will enable travelers to add their passport, which will be accepted as identification when heading through select TSA checkpoints, but will require a physical passport when going through immigration and border control. The digital wallet passport feature is rolling out with the holiday season in mind to help travelers make quick work of gong through security when traveling domestically.
Google commented on the digital US passport update saying, "This technology is in its early stages, so it’s important to know that a digital ID in Google Wallet is not a replacement for your physical ID. For now, you need to carry a physical ID with you when traveling."
