The De Facto Standard Fragrance Smells Like a New Macbook
Meghan Young — April 20, 2012 — Tech
The De Facto Standard fragrance is made for the Apple fanatic. Inspired by a person's love for their Apple products, it emulates the smell of a brand new Macbook. A nostalgic scent, this cologne will remind people of the first day they got their new laptop, renewing that giddy feeling over and over again.
Created by Air Aroma and Greatest Hits (which is made up of Gavin Bell, Jarrah de Kuijer and Simon McGlinn), the De Facto Standard fragrance was carefully crafted in a lab in France. Specialists began with an unopened Macbook Pro box. As they unboxed the laptop, they systematically compared the smells to samples of glue, plastic, rubber and paper. From there, a fragrance was mixed and sent to Australia to be exhibited at Melbourne’s West Space.
