Nike's Day of the Dead Sneakers Incorporate Subtle Patterns

Just ahead of the Mexican Day of the Dead, Nike is releasing three special Day of the Dead sneakers with unique reflective designs. The designs introduce special edition styles of classic sneakers, including the Air Force 1, Air Max 95 and Cortez.

The sneakers boast subtle sugar skull patterns that only appear as reflective details when light is directed at the designs. As well as incorporating popular color palettes as seen in Day of the Dead celebrations, Nike also opted to present its sneakers in an equally meaningful way—as its special edition Cortez sneakers are photographed alongside marigold flowers, which are known as "the flower of the dead" and are used to guide spirits to their respective altars during Day of the Dead.
