Much to the horror of parents, the longest-running study on day care centres and the long-term effects on children have issued their final report... and the findings are less than desirable. They were able to link extended time in day care with disruptive behaviour in the classrom... behaviour that could continue up until grade 6.
On a positive note, the study also indicated that genes and parental guidance still had the power to over rule any negative effects of day care. However, it's still a very sobering and scary thought for parents.
