Porsche and holoride are Testing a New Immersive Gaming Experience
Colin Smith — April 5, 2022 — Autos
Porsche has teamed up with 'holoride,' the entertainment startup based in Los Angeles, and 'Schell Games,' the game development studio, to create 'Cosmic Chase,' an in-Porsche VR game. This game will allow passengers in the backseat of a Porsche to immerse themselves in a location-based space-shooter game. Currently, this game is only available at a pilot demonstration by Porsche located at the 'Porsche Experience Centre' in Los Angeles.
In the game, passengers can shoot alien-like bugs while being driven around a racetrack. While moving in real life in the car, the passengers will also experience the thrill of moving through space in real-time. holoride has been working with Porsche since 2019 when it launched its first immersive in-car game for the automaker. If the pilot program goes well for Cosmic Chase, it is possible that this software will be rolled out for general consumers.
