S2B Studio Reference the Site's History with the Cooper House
Amy Duong — September 9, 2024 — Art & Design
The Cooper House is a design by the husband and wife duo at S2B Studio -- they made sure to reference the history of the site that originally belonged to a cooper. A cooper is a craftsman that makes barrels and the Cooper House is a self-designed project by the local practice's founders. The house has a timber build that is complemented by natural materials led by wooden finishes.
The co-founder of the studio, Joan Lim shares with Dezeen, "The design respects the street's character with a modest side-gable roof, blending seamlessly into the neighbourhood's architectural form. The two-storey wooden structure with a pitched roof and perforated flooring connects the two levels, creating an expansive, airy ambience that celebrates the essence of living."
