Sebastian Cox, alongside Root and Shoot and Timberwright, developed a contemporary treehouse design layered over an Atlas cedar featuring a stunning shingled roof and a walkable terrace. The treehouse is defined by its scorched larch exterior, which offers the design the kind of umbral quality often associated with modern houses and contemporary cabins. The roof, which was inspired by traditional medieval gables, is made with roughly finished chestnut wood, giving the treehouse a rustic look.
The two-story contemporary treehouse design is set up with two ladders for traversing the wooden structure. The interior is unfinished, affording children the space to fill it with whatever piques their imagination. Within, an overhead light well and several windows bathe the space in an abundance of all-natural light.
