Meta, the parent company behind 'WhatsApp,' the messaging service famous for its end-to-end encryption and privacy features, has released 'Code Verify,' a new browser extension that ensures the safety of WhatsApp data. Code Verify is a browser extension that analyzes WhatsApp Web's code and verifies that this code has not been tampered with. This process allows Code Verify to inform the user if any potential security breach has occurred, or if any of WhatsApp's data is being tampered with.
Code Verify achieves this verification through compiling a the code from WhatsApp Web into a hash and bouncing this hash off of a third-party verification system named 'Cloudflare Audit.' Cloudflare then confirms that the information in the code hash matches the standard WhatsApp code, and sends the audit report back to Code Verify.
With this extension, users can ensure the privacy of their WhatsApp conversations without needing computer expertise.
