ClimbAX is an ingenious gadget that makes it easier for climbers to train. The system is comprised of wristbands that record climbing statistics (power, control, stability and speed) and online software that process the data and creates a detailed report. Recording all of this data is made possible by the amazing amount of tech packed into the ClimbAX wristbands.
Each wristband has the same accelerometer found in an iPhone 5 and can detect the position of your hands. The data is stored in a 16-bit microchip and users need only attach the band to a computer's USB port to upload their data. While tech companies have waited to create smartwatches, athletic companies have been making sportswatches for some time now. However, these bands and watches have been primarily for runners and swimmers, which is why it's awesome to see ClimbAX appealing to those who scale rock walls for fun. ClimbAX is in the final stages of development and a Kickstarter campaign is currently being planned.
