Toronto-based entrepreneur Lily Tse has created an app that reveals the harmful chemicals in beauty products. Her app 'Think Dirty' will alarmingly reveal exactly what is in your favorite lipstick or foundation and just how toxic it may be.
You could very well be eating organic and non-processed foods, but all that hard work to keep the chemicals out could be getting overruled by your morning facial routine. Unlike food manufacturers, cosmetics companies don't have the same rules and regulations -- especially for labeling their ingredients.
The app has accumulated 68,000 products and their ingredients. It then ranks them on a ‘Dirty Meter’ scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the cleanest and 10 being the dirtiest). So if you're thinking of buying a new mascara, scan its barcode or search its name in the app’s database to find out if it's truly what you want to put near your eye.
