The Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is a race car with a radical design, borne out of the creative and engineering minds at Chevrolet, that uses a conceptual laser powertrain that provides 900 horsepower of thrust. The futuristic concept vehicle was unveiled at the LA Auto Show.
The vehicle builds its forward momentum from a laser propulsion system more associated with space travel than track racing. A 671 KiloWatt laser creates beams of light that provoke shock waves, generating thrust. With assistance from an air generator, the laser mechanism offers 900 horsepower of thrust.
