The Catrinka Project Works Alongside the 'Girl Rising' Film
Tiana Reid — June 2, 2013 — Social Good
Long before Gawker's Crackstarter campaign for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, Indiegogo's campaigns tended to look a little bit more like the Catrinka Project. The social business, which is based in New York City, also works in collaboration with the popular film 'Girl Rising,' by targeting the ten countries that were featured in the film itself.
The model itself follows its tagline, "Buy a bag, employ a woman, educate a girl," which is to say, at this moment, the organization also works on gaining donations and not simply selling the handbags created by the women artisans in those ten countries around the world. At the time of the publishing of this article, the Catrinka Project had just over $6,000 of their $20,000 goal.
