The 'Carrion' Game Puts Player in Control of a Ravenous Monster
Justin Lam — March 26, 2018 — Tech
Most horror games put the player in the role of the survivor, but the Carrion game flips the script and tasks players in the role of the monster. This may not seem like the ideal premise for a horror game, but Carrion manages to maintain a level of fear by having the monster climb its way out of the underground and hunt armed humans. The gameplay revolves around physics-based combat and platforming, with players tasked with hunting and surviving their prey.
The Carrion game is currently being developed by Phobia games, perhaps best known for their previous release Butcher. Carrion follows a similar art style to Butcher and finds way to play with shadows in a creepy 2D space. A dreadfully looming music score plays in the background and ambient noises of doors and footsteps populate the terrifying world.
