Australian design studio Carr designs a new office building block in Melbourne with inspiration drawn from the looks of 20th-century industrial warehouses. It features perforated red-brick columns and is located on Bruce Street, making it the first large building to be complete during the redevelopment. It celebrates the industrial heritage and uses detailed such as concrete floor platers, metal, red brick, and more to represent that.
Stephen McGarry, associate director of the studio explained to Dezeen that "A key design feature of the architectural massing and spatial planning is the large outdoor terraces on each floor level. Whilst acting as a shading device to the western sun, they create deep, shaded outdoor terraces for the occupants of each tenancy. These naturally create moments of interaction and potential collaboration between user groups throughout the building from a professional or social context."
