Respectful makes free-range, carbon-neutral eggs in a way that minimizes emissions as much as possible. The hens on Respectful farms are free to graze on open pastures and they are fed field beans that are milled on site, rather than soya or another food source that has to travel a far distance to provide nourishment. The use of field beans also means that the soil is not ploughed but direct drilled, which reduces fuel use and supports the health of the soil.
The exclusion of soya is significant since it is the single biggest contributor of carbon in the production of eggs and it is also responsible for much of the deforestation of the Amazon basin in South America. Additionally, Respectful taps into its own solar array and wind energy.
