Hyundai Unveils a Gesture-Based System in its New HCD-14 Concept Car

The engineers unveiled the next generation of car controls at the Detroit Auto Show.
Dubbed the HCD-14, this slick looking piece of automobile not only features a pretty striking design, but features an exciting touchless car control system that the company believes can cut back on distracted driving in the future. The roads out there can be pretty dangerous when people are distracted by things like text messages and changing tracks on their iPods.
Using a gesture-based system very similar to Microsoft's Kinect add-on for Xbox 360, the concept car features two of the gesture-based and eye-controlled screens that don't require the driver to take their eyes off the road. The one on the driver's side is limited to essential driver information and adjustments, which the center console allows passengers to access a full entertainment system, all controlled with nary a touch.
