SelgasCano and Diego Cano Design the Canary House in LA
Amy Duong — March 27, 2024 — Art & Design
Spanish architecture studios SelgasCano and Diego Canos join forces on the Canary House located on a steep site in Los Angeles. The home is defined by its bright yellow tones applied on the tubular structures using recycled aluminum. The two-story home rises from the sloped base and it is clad with a unique lattice that is formed of painted rubes of the aforementioned recycled aluminum.
This results in a distinct and bright yellow appearance, giving it the name Canary House. SelgasCano explains, "We designed an outdoor envelopment that veils all the interior and exterior spaces, an independent device that provides shelter from the sun and frames the views. This covering makes a powerful impact on the house, wraps completely around it, and frames the view in the large terrace."
