The DHaus Company Creates the Butterfly House Extension
Amy Duong — March 25, 2024 — Art & Design
Architecture studio The DHaus Company designs the Butterfly House extension, which is added to a terraced residence located in North London. The ground floor of the house is extended and transformed to improve the dining area and form more private living spaces for the client's teen children. The inverted-pitched roof nods to the 19th-century architecture of the area, which also nods to the project's name.
The DHaus Company speaks to Dezeen about the design, stating "The butterfly roof is visually striking. Its unique shape adds an element of modernity and sophistication to the structure. We wanted this concept of the butterfly not just at a large roof level, but in the way the bricks were set out, creating amazing shadows in the light and reinforcing the V or butterfly in elevation."
