EBBA Architects Renovates and Brightens the Camden Residence
Amy Duong — August 21, 2024 — Art & Design
London design studio EBBA Architects takes on a renovation project that brings new elements to the Camden Residence. As the name suggests, the home is located in Camden and the main focus is the metal frame structure that has been added. This draws influence from Victorian design to retain the original structure and heritage. This project is made up of various alterations within the building along with a glazed extension around a white frame structure fit into a sunken section of the back garden.
The founder of the studio Benni Allan tells Dezeen, "The main aim of the renovation of the house was to try to create a better connection between different areas within the home, and at the same time bring light down into what used to be very dark spaces. The clients wanted to create spaces that felt better connected, and enjoyed the initial suggestion to make a void that could connect three different parts of the house – the kitchen, living and study. At the same time they loved to be in the garden, which inspired the Victorian-like lightweight metal structure that helps to frame the garden."
