Leading New Orleans brewery Urban South has teamed up with none other than the city's award-winning Dong Phuong Bakery to create a spectacular trio of sour ales that are all made with the Vietnamese bakery's delectable king cakes.
The only one of the trio of beers to be made available in canned formats is the 'Carnival Time Sour Ale with King Cake,' which pays tribute to the Dong Phuong Cinnamon and Cream Cheese King Cake. Meanwhile, Urban South Brewery's taproom will play host to two draft beers. They include the 'Carnival Time Sour Ale with Strawberry Filled King Cake' and the 'Carnival Time Sour Ale with Coconut Cream King Cake,.' All three brews come in at 4.6 percent ABV.
Ultimately, the launch of this trio of sour ales is testament to the wonderful things that can happen when breweries take inspiration from local food purveyors.
