As Instagram's photo-sharing platform is open to everyone, it's difficult to monitor which accounts are posting content that's suitable for all -- however with the new blurred photos and videos feature, users can flag content to avoid causing offense to others.
Currently, the social platform hasn't specified exactly what sorts of images and videos could be deemed as "Sensitive Content." However, the company has stated, "While these posts don’t violate our guidelines, someone in the community has reported them and our review team has confirmed they are sensitive. This change means you are less likely to have surprising or unwanted experiences in the app."
By having blurred photos and videos, Instagram enables users to access possibly offensive content on their own terms, as the filter can simply be tapped to have the content revealed.
