It's not often that art, religion, and data collection coincide, which is what makes BIBLE, THE - an art project by the sideline collective - so unique.
Using custom software built by Ernst and Van Bruggen, the artistic team collected every word from the King James bible and re-organized it alphabetically. The end result is paragraphs upon paragraphs of repeating words starting with A and ending with Z. Aside from creating a re-imagined and aesthetically pleasing book, the team uncovered new data that provided insights into the importance of language and words. For example, the book cites 'his' 8,472 times, compared to 'hers' which is only cited three times. This, the team claims, better summarizes the gender divide than the individual instances from the book.
