German artist Benoit Maubrey creates mind-boggling sculptures out of salvaged speakers. An amazing feat to say the least, these sculptures often tower over heads as they mimic real landmarks found around the world. For instance, 'TEMPLE', which is made out of 300 recycled speakers, pays tribute to the Greek Temple at Delphi while 'Speaker Gate' is the replica of the gateway of a 6th century fortress.
In addition to sculpting, Benoit Maubrey is the director and founder of Berlin-based art group DIE AUDIO GRUPPE that builds and performs with electronic clothes. His fixation with such technology stemmed from wanting to put paints and canvasses away for something more interesting. Benoit Maubrey writes, "In all of this work I use electronics as a modern “clay” that I can form and create into fantasy-full performances and objects."
