When there are sandcastles to build and water to splash in, the last thing kids usually want to be involved in is applying beach sun protection. As a solution to this, Nivea came up with a fun way to encourage kids to play safely in the sun.
Since the Skin Cancer Foundation reports that South Africa has the highest rate of skin cancer, Nivea installed the 'Sunslide' at a beach, which was powered by 50 gallons of SPF 50+ waterproof sunscreen rather than the water that fuels a typical waterslide.
Nivea gave out goggles and encouraged kids to take a ride down the slide—after a single run, they would be coated with enough sun protection cream to prevent burns and other skin irritations.
