Full Circle's Barley TONIQ is the newest active from the ingredients brand and it takes the form of a soothing skincare ingredient that helps to give purpose to a by-product of the beer brewing process. Optimized for irritated and sensitive skin, this waste-reducing ingredient taps into the abundant barley grounds (or spent grains) that are part of the process of brewing beer. With their sugars extracted, these barley grounds remain rich in protein and they are transformed with a process that involves adding enzymes and breaking the protein down into materials with skin-supporting benefits.

This fast-acting ingredient has been tested for its efficacy with an in-vivo study focused on reducing erythema of the skin. Over the course of a half-hour, redness was visibly reduced, and even more so in a few hours.
