Based in Nepal, the Association for Craft Producers helps low-income artisans by providing training in areas such as design and marketing to help with their businesses.
Founded in 1984 by Meera Bhattarai, the social enterprise features handmade crafts such as jewelry, carpentry, knitwear and other seasonal items. Along with fair trade products, all workers are offered fair wages as well as benefits for health loans and education that extends to their family. Association for Craft Producers is also an environmentally conscious organization. By using waste water treatment plants, water-based pigments and making changes from kerosene to electricity, the non-governmental organization is a great demonstration of how a few small changes can not only help improve the lives of others, but the world surrounding them as well.
