Arcipelago di Ocno is a small piazza located in Mantova, a town a few hours from Milan in the north of Italy. While most of the piazzas located throughout the historical town can be reached by driving or walking through the city's winding, historical streets, Arcipelago di Ocno can only be reached via a different mode of travel: boats.
The gathering place is a series of man-made floating islands in the middle of one of the several lakes that surround the municipality. These floating islands take the shape of a series of interconnected white circles. Space Caviar, the design and media firm behind Arcipelago di Ocno, chose the circular design and color based on the lotus plants -- similar to lilies -- that are native to Mantova's lakes.
