The Appolition app is a new service that rounds each of a consumer's purchases to the nearest dollar and gives that amount to people who can't afford to make bail.
An estimated 450,000 people a day are left to wait in prison due to an inability to make bail which often results in an individual losing their job, home or even custody of their children while they wait anywhere from days to years for a trial. This number accounts for two-thirds of America's prison population and more often than not these individuals are non-violent or innocent.
Users can connect their banking information to the Appolition app, which will round each purchase to the nearest dollar, anytime it notices more than 50 cents in spare change. All of the proceeds go towards National Bail Out - a non-profit which helps non-violent individuals make bail.
