Vegan accessory brand Matt + Nat recently released the Studio 901 collection and it features apple leather handbags. This collection marks the first time that the brand is working with a leather alternative made form apples, specifically waste that is recovered from the apple juice industry.
The bio-based vegan leather made with recovered materials from the fruit juice industry goes by the name AppleSkin and it's a patented material from Italy-based company Frumat. This material works with the mushy pulp that's rich in cellulose fibers from the skin and core of apples that would otherwise be discarded as part of the juice-making process.
Some of the styles made with AppleSkin from Matt + Nat include mini satchels, crossbody bags and backpacks.
