Piano Builds a 150 Apartment Residence That Will Float Above the Publ

Commissioned to design a 27-storey residential apartment residence tower by real estate developer Sellar Property Group, Italian born architect Renzo Piano will be projected to add another building just beside his previously designed skyscraper in London called The Shard.
The new building will be the newest addition on the southern bank of the River Thames. A representative from Sellar says, “this new building will ‘float’ some 14 meters above the enlarged public realm space on London Bridge Street, opening up new access routes between the two levels and providing views down to Guy’s Hospital, Kings College campus and the proposed Science Gallery for the first time.”
The residence will house 150 apartments, shops on the ground level and a rooftop garden. There will be a staircase and retail spaces that will conjoin both stories to create a connection between the bus station and the public plaza to the streets below.
