Ann & Arayata designs and constructs handmade handbags, with a specific focus on the day-time clutch style, that are manufactured in the Visaya region of the Philippines.
Founded by Lara Stephenson, the company uses unique and naturally occurring textiles found in abundance in the rural regions of the Philippines that are transformed by skilled citizens in the community into one-of-a-kind accessories. Using the raffia weaving tradition, each bag is constructed by Filipino artisans using wooden looms and water-based dyes and this method of sustainable manufacturing creates a viable livelihood for the residents of the community.
The business also donates a minimum of 20 per cent of its profits to L.I.F.E. For Health, a charity that is dedicated to alleviating poverty by promoting sustainable livelihood programs that improve earning potential, education and access to healthcare.
