KayaKata Boasts Animated Videos as Track Accompaniment
Kalin Ned — November 19, 2019 — Art & Design
The concept of the animated video audiobook is being expanded through a musical project. KayaKata is a hip hop band that is led by Tbilisi-based designer Max Machaidze and writer Zurab Jishkariani. The two use their respective skills — one is rooted in the experience of the user and the production of functionally sound and aesthetically pleasing products, while the other embraces his talents as a storyteller. For KayaKata's latest album, Max Machaidze and Zurab Jishkariani created a series of animated video audiobooks to visually carry listeners through the tracks.
The stylings of the videos are kept uniform. Each one spotlights "a figure with its face obscured." A pattern-heavy design plays around in the background and a variety of imagery enters the frame as the clip progresses — from animal silhouettes to vintage advertising.
