Elissa Medina's vibrant animal-shaped rugs modernize the concept of a traditional animal skin rug. Instead of coming off the back of an animal, Medina's colorful creations are made entirely of small hexagonal felt pieces that have been stitched together. Each rug takes about 80 hours to put together by hand, which truly makes them labors of love.
Medina's rugs capture the essence of an animal skin rug and Mexico's folk art style with a contemporary twist. Up close, the small hexagonal pieces resemble pixels. These interesting rugs have been made in a warm and a cool color palette, which work beautifully as home accents. What's even more impressive about these rugs is that they're completely waterproof and fire retardant.
