Rashelle's Range of Conceptual Rugs is Playful and Visually Bold
Jana Pijak — February 3, 2021 — Art & Design
Rashelle's conceptual rug collection is designed by multidisciplinary female and Indigenous Cree artist Rashelle Campbell. The artist "values playfulness as a means of exemplifying a more diverse standard of beauty, which often sings in her photography" while "her love for colours is within everything she creates," something that her hand-tufted rugs embody.
Creating a line of hand-tufted rugs -- each said to be made while the artist was watching reality television -- Rashelle opts for floral and organic shapes along with those reminiscent of nostalgic inspirations from the 90s. Her one-of-a-kind creations include everything from 'surfin flubs,' a conceptual design with green and blue floral motifs to tennis ball and basketball rugs that are the perfect sporty home accent.
