This temporary Andy Warhol museum was set up inside Lisbon's Colombo Shopping Mall, made with over 1,000 empty metal paint cans. This mini-museum infuses an ordinary commercial shopping space with an exciting culture-rich experience.
The unique installation was designed by the Portuguese studio 'LIKEarchitects,' to host the 'Andy Warhol - Icons' exhibit. The paint can structure provided the perfect backdrop for 32 of Warhol's iconic works.
Unlike a white-walled gallery space, the walls of this temporary structure are dynamic and match the spirit of Warhol's work. The forms are reminiscent of Warhol's use of the Campbell's soup can and his fascination with ordinary objects. The cylindrical shape of the soup cans and the meandering form of the structure give the entire exhibit a mod 60s feel.
