Alvio is a Respiratory App That Helps Kids with Asthma Breathe
Laura McQuarrie — June 23, 2014 — Tech
Alvio is an app designed specifically for kids with asthma that gamifies the process of exercising and training the lungs. Alvio by QoL is a two part device that involves a Bluetooth-connected mouthpiece and games for iOS and Android mobile devices. The games challenge kids to practice breath control and exhalation, disguised as fun games involving undersea life.
Asthma is one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases that affects millions of Americans of all ages, requiring them to have an inhaler on hand. But practice with the Alvio app helps to target and track a child's specific triggers and with continued use, it's able to reduce the need for inhalers by 86%.
Alvio will be available for consumers later this year for a price of $199, which will include one app.
